Target Competition wins in Barcelona

The news concerned Manuel Sapag from Argentina, who had not been allowed to travel from his homeland earlier due to the coronavirus. In qualifying, 3 Target drivers (John Filippi, Jessica Bäckman and Andreas Bäckman) managed to get into the top 8 with places 9, 10 and 10, while Sapag had initial difficulties and qualified in 18th place. Intra-team duels In the race, Andreas Bäckman and John Filippi were able to improve slightly and finished the race in 7th and 8th place respectively. Jessica Bäckman and Sapag fought a duel, as a result of which both lost many positions. At least Sapag improved and – after a few overtaking maneuvers – achieved a good 12th place. Jessica Bäckman had to settle for 15th place. In the second race, the South Tyrolean team almost achieved a triple victory. Andreas Bäckman, sister Jessica and John Filippi started from the first 2 positions. They were leading the race halfway through when John Filippi tried to overtake Jessica Bäckman. There was a momentous collision: Bäckman fell back to last place, while Filippi received a drive-through penalty. This threw him back into midfield. At the front, Andreas Bäckman took home an undisputed start-to-finish victory. Newcomer Manuel Sapag also impressed in 8th place after starting from the last positions. The next races will take place from October 22nd to 24th in Spa, Belgium.

Target Competition wins in Barcelona

This weekend, races 7 and 8 of the TCR Europe Touring Car Championship took place in Barcelona. The South Tyrolean racing team Target Competition competed with 4 drivers for the first time.
