TCR-Europe: Target Competition’s lead from Andrian is melting away

The racing team from Andrian went into the races on the legendary circuit just outside Milan with the clear goal of limiting damage. Damage limitation because their cars were loaded with the maximum additional weight of 60 kg, which is a real disadvantage on a high-speed track like Monza.

In the first race, title contender Dusan Borkovic finished in a good fifth place, guest driver Peter Terting came eighth, Kris Richard and Reece Barr finished the race in 12th and 16th place. This would mean that the goal set by the racing team would be achieved.

Uproar in Race II But in the second race there was a scandal. A competitor - who has nothing to do with the title fight - rammed Borkovic's car, who then had to retire with a puncture.

Peter Terting, Kris Richard and 17-year-old Reece Barr finished race two in sixth, seventh and ninth place.

After the race, Borkovic and a team member from the opposing racing team, with whom the Serb had the accident, crashed into each other. The race management then felt compelled to deprive Borkovic of his ten points from the first race.

Heading into the final race weekend in Barcelona, Dusan Borkovic is now 20 points behind championship leader Mikel Azcona and eleven points behind JK Vernay. In the team ranking, Target Competition is still in first place, but the lead has shrunk to seven points.

The last two races of the season will take place in Barcelona on October 20th and 21st.
