World Cup – Preliminary decision for Marquez anniversary?

The Motorcycle World Championships are visiting Brno, Czech Republic for the 49th time. The favorite is without any ifs and buts defending champion Marc Marquez. The Honda rider can already secure a preliminary decision in the world championship with a victory in his 100th MotoGP appearance. The Spaniard travels to Brno with a cushion of 46 points over old champion Valentino Rossi.

However, Marquez's teammate Dani Pedrosa achieved the best training time on Friday. The little Spaniard completed the course in 1:55.976 minutes and was the only driver to break the 1:56 minute mark. Some of the other top pilots were lagging behind. Marc Marquez didn't get past 10th place. He was 0,659 seconds behind Pedrosa. The Ducatis, especially those from the satellite teams, coped better. Danilo Petrucci (Pramac) stormed into second place and Alvaro Bautista (Angel Nieto) took an excellent third place. The two factory Ducatis of Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo were left behind with places 5 and 15. Veteran Valentino Rossi drove his Yamaha to seventh place with a time of 1:56.480 minutes. However, the 39-year-old Italian spent a long time preparing for the race and only briefly chased the times.

With expected summer temperatures, the qualification will take place on Saturday. The 10th round of this year's World Championship season starts on Sunday afternoon with the race in Brno.
