Adelboden: The next giant duel is coming up

It's always the same duel in recent years: Henrik Kristoffersen vs. Marcel Hirscher. In the technical disciplines, the two are the measure of all things. That's how it was at the first round in Adelboden. The Norwegian put in a strong run in the giant slalom with start number 1, which subsequently left all the competitors fighting hard. Even Hirscher, who had a wild ride, didn't quite come close (0,12 seconds behind).

Behind the two long-term competitors, two runners, the Frenchman Alexis Pinturault (0,18 seconds) and Stefan Luitz, are waiting for a slip-up. The German who is currently is in a clinch with the FIS , is in fourth place, 22 hundredths behind. Tommy Ford showed a strong run. With start number 15, the American was on the verge of setting the fastest time, but then made a big mistake and is therefore in 5th place.

“Azzurri” not in the top field The first round at Chuenisbärgli went less well for the “Azzurri”. Manfred Mölgg went into the classic in Adelboden feeling ailing. The man from Enneberg is a bit sick, skipped the starting number draw and didn't have a good first run. Nevertheless, the 36-year-old was still better than Luca De Aliprandini and Riccardo Tonetti.

Simon Maurberger showed a decent first run. The Ahrntaler, who was recently very successful in the slalom in the European Cup, was only a few hundredths slower than De Aliprandini and will therefore be in the final of the top 30.
