Curling: European Cup ends with 4 South Tyrolean medals

For the women, EV Lana Raika and ASV Stegen achieved a good starting position in the group phase on Saturday for the track games to be played on Sunday. Lana took third place in Group A and Stegen took second place in Group B. In the sixth and decisive game to move into the finals, EV Lana was able to secure a place in the final against ESV Union Vornholz with a seven in the last bend. AEV Stegen won against last year's EC winner UEV Seeham with 19:10 and was therefore in the small final for the bronze medal.

In the end, Stegen clearly won the game against RSV 1929 Büblingshausen 43:21 and thus secured bronze. EV Lana won the silver medal and was on a par with EC winner TSV Kühbach for a long time, but then clearly lost 18:33.

This was Lana's first EC medal; Stegen already won silver with Moritzing in 2015.

For men, the ESC Luttach could only be stopped in the final. In the first game they defeated EV Eppan Berg 39:21. In the second game they won against ESV Kowald Voitsberg from Austria with 28:24. In the semifinals they eliminated Moitzerlitz Regen with 28:26.

In the final, the first game ended in a draw 11:11, after the tenth turn it was still 17:17, but EC Blau-Weiß March from Germany won the last two turns and thus became EC winners in 2019. For Luttach, this was already the end sixth silver medal in an EC competition.

The SSV Naturns organized the European Cup for women's club teams in the “Iceforum” ice rink in Laces and the men's club teams in the “Meranarena” ice rink in Meran.
