Tennis professional about footballer: “Pathetic and arrogant”

While the ball is slowly rolling again in many top European leagues, the international tennis circus continues to be dead. This seems to bother 23-year-old Daria Kasatkina (number 66 in the world rankings). “Footballers are pathetic and arrogant. Not all of them, of course, but I don't like the ones in Russia. I can’t stand the way they behave and present themselves,” she said in an Instagram live chat with Russian sports presenter Maria Komandnaya. The high salaries of professional footballers, especially those of Russian players, also seem to be a thorn in Kasatkina's side. “Of course there are players like Messi and Ronaldo who are the measure of all things. They also earn their mega salaries. If you compare the Spanish league with the Russian league, for example, I see huge differences, but as far as I know the wage amounts are not that different. That's unfair." However, the former world number 10 emphasized that she was generally a big fan of athletes: “They are great guys. And I also like the sport of football, I like watching it.” She only seems to have reservations about the football professionals – especially the Russian ones.
