Spaniard Rodriguez wins the sixth stage - Quinziato 130.

From the beginning, the race was characterized by many cyclists attempting to escape. After the group had skillfully fended off many of these attacks, they had to admit defeat around the 100th kilometer and let seven of the professional cyclists go. None of these seven had a chance to significantly change the overall standings.

However, thanks to the good work of the Liquigas professionals, the small group was caught six kilometers from the finish. From that moment on, the hustle and bustle of participants broke up with about ten athletes who wanted to fight energetically for victory. The decisive moment of this race, which was exciting until the end, happened exactly in the last kilometer: the Spaniard Joaquim Rodriguez, without looking back, gained a lead of 200 meters over his rivals. It was already too late for Nibali and DiLuca to keep up with Rodriguez, who crossed the finish line with his arms raised.

Horner maintains his first place in the overall ranking, but the final decision will be made on Tuesday March 13th in the seventh and final stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico Tour.

South Tyrolean Manuel Quinziato finished the stage in 130th place and made it to the final with the fastest group.

The length of the sixth and penultimate stage of the 2012 Tirreno-Adriatico tour was 181 kilometers. The start and finish were in Offida. The route itself was characterized by many inclines, but there were no very steep climbs.
