The new cycling season can begin

The presentation was opened by the "master of the house" Andreas Mair at the Tinkhof, who in his welcoming speech emphasized the importance of sport in society and the promotion of young South Tyrolean athletes. In front of the present national champions, coaches, referees, the President of Trentino Cycling Dario Broccardo, already coach of Bellutti e Quinziato, the representatives of the Office for Sports, Armin Hölzl and Laura Savoia, the director of the South Tyrolean Sports Aid Stefan Leitner and the many supporters the President of the South Tyrolean Cycling Association Antonio Lazzarotto, alongside his association members, presented the "Vademecum 2017", a reference work for all cycling enthusiasts. The manual is available both as a small paperback and online.

The cover is dedicated to the cyclist of the year Alessia Vigilia. She won the Italian time trial championship in her first year as a junior, came second at the European Championships and eighth at the World Time Trial Championships in Doha.

"The color gold," emphasizes Antonio Lazzarotto, "was dedicated to another Alessia, namely Alessia Missiaggia, who is currently living in Canada for her studies. She became Junior World Downhill Champion in 2016 and will soon return to her homeland to compete for... the Zanolini Bike team will be at the start."

"This year," says the President of South Tyrolean Cycling, "we have strengthened our cooperation with the associations from Trento, Veneto and Friuli and created synergies in various areas, such as women's cycling or in the youth sector in the mountain bike and cross-country disciplines. "

All upcoming competitions are listed in the handbook: MTB Raiffeisen Südtirol Cup (eight races, two of them in Trento), the South Tyrol Mountain Cup (five competitions) for all amateur athletes, the Challenge Young Raiffeisen and Ciclocross Marlene in the youth sector. One of the highlights this year is the Italian MTB XCO Youth Italian Championships on July 2nd in Casies, the same place where the Italian Sprint Championships and the Italian Youth Italian Cup races were held last year. Over 400 young athletes are expected. The competitions for youth riders on the road will take place on May 7th in Bolzano "Trophy Minicross Altair" organized by GS Alto Adige, on June 11th in Bolzano "Trophy Zanolini Bike" (SC Giac Virtus 2000) and on September 24th in Safty Park "Trophy Assicurazione Potenza" (GS Alto Adige); for the Girls Student, Youth and Open category on May 1st in Neumarkt “Trophy Tex Market” (GS Mendelspeck). The Women's Open starts on July 29th in Bolzano at the traditional street race "Hotel Messe Bozen" (SC Adriana). Students at the competition on September 17th, also in Bolzano, at the Gimur race organized by GS Alto Adige.

There are also some classics on the program in South Tyrol this year: Maratona Dles Dolomites with participants limited to 9.000 starters with a request of forty thousand, Hero in Val Gardena, Dolomiti Superbike, Giro delle Dolomiti, Ortler Bike Marathon and Kronplatz Marathon. Not to forget the stage arrival in Vilnöss at the Tour des Alpes and the Giro d'Italia stage in Ortisei in Val Gardena.
