Giro delle Dolomiti completed with team time trial

The field of participants started on Saturday morning from Waltherplatz in Bolzano, then drove to Auer and from there to Kurtinig, where the five-person teams started the fight against the stopwatch all the way to Kaltern. Then we returned to Bolzano. The team time trial was 27 kilometers long with an altitude difference of 185 meters, the entire stage was 72 kilometers with an altitude difference of 253 meters.

The team time trial was a very close affair, which the Albacete team won in the end. Eduard Shageev (Russia), the Spaniards Gregorio Diaz Fernandez and Felipe Miguel Angel Huerta, the Finn Jarkko Siltakorpi and Lorenz Beck from Germany took part here. The average time of the four fastest cyclists on this team was 43.24,75:43.26,20 minutes. Second place went to the Lexxi Smart Suits team (43.35,40) with the Germans Michael Meyer, Torsten Schütte, Ulrich Bartholomäus, Alexander Bauer and the Austrian Wolfgang Schmidt. The Penser Joch team took third place with a time of XNUMX:XNUMX minutes, consisting of Davide Ferrari, Federico Focardi, Alois Vigl, Eduard Rizzi and Robert Ölgartner.

The team time trial experiment is a success

In the mixed relay with cyclists, the RSC Wolnzach team from Germany set the fastest time with Werner Biederer, Wolfgang Hoffmann, Zdenek Weis, Günter Haslback and Karin Kis. There were also some South Tyrolean companies among the participants, such as Sparkasse, Markas or Südtiroler Sporthilfe, for which HCB captain Alexander Egger, among others, pedaled diligently.

Kofler described the team time trial experiment, which was on the program for the first time this year and is intended as a sociable end to a great cycling week, as a success. “The idea was for teams to get together during the week. People who may have only met here on the Dolomites cycle tour. Or South Tyrolean companies that may not be able to take part in our event all week provide teams for the final stage - which was also the case. It was nice to see how the individual team members helped each other to master the time trial.”

The Dolomites cycling tour 2017 ended successfully on Saturday. After five individual stages, the team time trial along the Wine Route was on the program on the last day of the week-long cycling event, which the Albacete team won.
