Many big names are taking part in the first edition of the Tour of the Alps this year, which has taken over the reins from the former Giro del Trentino. Davide Cassani, the coach of the Azzurri team, was also among the crowd at Bolzano's Waltherplatz. We interviewed him about the EUREGIO cycling tour.

“The event is of the highest level because the favorites of this Tour of the Alps will also be the main stars of the next Giro d'Italia. I also think that this route is ideal for preparing a three-week cycling tour; Despite the cold conditions, you could always drive on dry roads and that is a very positive thing,” says Cassani.

It will certainly be a very nice Giro d'Italia."

“Quinziato is a great man” Davide Cassani also spoke about Manuel Quinziato in the interview that can be heard as an attachment. “Manuel is a very intelligent person and if he has decided to quit then it simply means that the moment has come. I always had great confidence in Manuel and that's why I called him up three times. Personally, I'm very sorry that he's quitting, but cycling won't lose him. In addition to his physical qualities, he has other strengths that will greatly benefit our sport."

The Italian Montaguti celebrated on the penultimate stage In Cles on Thursday, the Ag2r driver Matteo Montaguti won the mass finish sprint ahead of Thibaut Pinot. As in previous days, the 165,3 km long stage was characterized by strong winds and cool temperatures. Dupont, Pirazzi and Frankiny were 5 minute ahead of the peloton with 1km to go. The fourth and penultimate stage of the Tour of the Alps started from the state capital on Thursday morning. After 165,3 km, the cyclists reached the finish in Cles in the Non Valley. The Italian Matteo Montaguti won there in the finish sprint.
