Bike Transalp: Out for Paris and Piazza

The sixth stage led from Kaltern over 98,25 km and 2.894 meters in altitude to the cathedral square in Trento. Andreas Laner and Massimo Debertolis (Team AIL Trentino) crossed the finish line as the fastest Masters riders for the sixth time in a row. Franz Hofer and Daniele Mensi were initially able to keep up with the best in the men's category, but then decided to take a “rest day” to regenerate from yesterday's exertions. “We more than achieved our goal with a stage win and a podium place,” says the Sarner native. “We are taking part to gain experience and want to compete in some good races after the Transalp.” They crossed the finish line in Trent today in eleventh place, 25 minutes behind.

Platzgummer: “Too slow on the descents”

In the Grand Masters, Walter Platzgummer from Naturns and Piergiorgio Dellagiacoma from Trentino were hoping for their first victory, but overlooked the fact that the Danes Henrik Cohen and Thomas Aaboe Nielsen were ahead of them on the course and were first on the cathedral square in Trento with a lead of 3.54 minutes arrived. “That’s a shame,” Platzgummer announced at the finish. “We simply drove too slowly on the descents.”
