Kronplatz is looking for an MTB king and queen

The KronplatzKing Marathon is 81 kilometers and 3.310 meters in altitude, while the shorter route, the KronplatzPrince Classic, is 50 km and 2.150 meters above sea level. It is the only race with a full 8 km of freeride sections and the finish at 2.275 m above sea level. The start is in St. Vigil in Enneberg, then the mountain bikers head up to the Kronplatz summit.

Last year the “Azzurri” Daniele Mensi and Maria Cristina Nisi won the race. The inaugural edition two years ago was won by the Belgian Roel Paulissen, who lives in Antholz, and the Italian Elena Gaddoni.

The favorites This year too, numerous well-known names from the MTB world will be at the start, such as defending champion Mensi, Paulissen, Cristiano Salerno, Daniel Geismayr and the Russian Aleksej Medvedev.

The two Germans Markus Kaufmann and Jochen Käß, who will still be in action at the Bike-Transalp on Saturday, are also on the registration list. From a South Tyrolean perspective, Franz Hofer from Sarner in particular wants to impress. Although he won't be able to compete for the podium, a good placement is definitely possible for the veteran, who now lives in Völs and no longer has the time to train professionally. At the Dolomiti Superbike he impressed with 22nd place as the best South Tyrolean. Among the women's favorites are Elena Gaddoni, Maria Cristina Nisi and the Swiss Esther Süss.

The organizers expect around 800 participants. Remaining places are still available, registrations are possible on site. Those who decide at short notice can register for the race on Saturday or Sunday from 6 a.m. at the ski pass office at the Miara valley station in St. Vigil.

The starting signal takes place on Sunday from 8 a.m.
