These South Tyroleans are going to the MTB World Championships

While there were only two South Tyrolean bikers, Greta Seiwald and Gerhard Kerschbaumer, at the European Championships in Munich, there will be a few more at the Mountain Bike World Championships in Les Gets, France next week.

In addition to Kerschbaumer and Seiwald, Noemi Plankensteiner (U23), Elian Paccagnella (juniors), Alexandra Hanni and Jana Pallweber (both juniors) were also nominated in cross country. Anna Oberparleiter is competing on the e-mountain bike.

Eva Lechner, who was able to celebrate silver at the World Cup in 2020, was, as expected, not taken into account by the Azzurri coaches in charge. This was almost certain after they were not nominated for the European Championships. The 37-year-old from Eppan was already disappointed back then.

Downhiller Veronika Widmann also took part in the World Cup. The 29-year-old from Tramin won bronze at the European Downhill Championships in Marburg/Maribor in June (SportNews reported) .

The World Championships in France begin on Wednesday with the cross-country relays. It is not yet clear who will start for the Azzurri. The junior races take place on Thursday, and on Friday morning it is the turn of the e-mountain bikers. On Friday evening, the cross-country specialists will be in action in the shorter short track races. The downhill competitions are on Saturday.

The highlight on Sunday is the U23 and elite races in the Olympic discipline of cross country.
