“It's time to say goodbye. I'm ending my career as a mountain bike professional. I had a successful career, but now the priorities in my life have changed. I am a husband and father of two wonderful boys, which motivates me to focus on my family. I want to see my boys grow up and experience life with them more intensively,” wrote Kerschbaumer on social media. The Eisacktaler will compete in his last race on Sunday at the World Cup in Val di Sole.

Kerschbaumer has two small sons at home and married his long-time girlfriend Elisabeth in October 2019. In the future he will work on his parents' farm and also take over it.
