Eva Lechner fights her way to the finish

The all-time list of winners begins with Eva Lechner. She won an impressive victory in the Swabian Alb in 2013. The woman from Eppan can currently only boast such successes in cross-country. It's been a tough road back to the top of the world on mountain bikes for several years now. Eva Lechner, known to be a tough fighter, has set herself a clear goal and this year she should be able to join the international elite again. “I'm in good spirits, I have good legs and the preparations have gone very well,” says Eva Lechner, who rides for the US Team Clif.

In Albstadt, Eva Lechner achieved a respectable result on very difficult ground. It almost goes without saying that she has been holding Italy's flag high among the international MTB elite for years. The fact that things are now going better and better after years of overload is not only pleasing to Eva Lechner, but also to her support staff around ex-professional Luca Bramati.

The race in Albstadt, in which almost every rider crashed, was dominated by an impressive victory for the Swiss Jolanda Neff. She also fell, but always had a safe lead over her opponents. At the finish she was overjoyed and said that the difficult conditions suited her perfectly. That wasn't hard to believe after seeing the race and her freshness after crossing the finish line. Jolanda Neff also takes over the World Cup lead. Eva Lechner ended up in 18th place, eight minutes and 43 seconds behind the winner. That's 70 more World Cup points in her account and the hope that things will continue to improve in a week in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.
