Fabian Rabensteiner wins promotion race in Naturns

The bikers had to cover 12,7 kilometers from Naturns up to the Zetenalm. The 1.210 meters in altitude and inclines of up to 16% demanded everything from the participants. In the men's category, Fabian Rabensteiner and Mattia Longa immediately separated themselves from the rest of the drivers. The 25-year-old from Villandro, who rides for the Trek-Selle San Marco team, ultimately won in 48:20,1 minutes, 21 seconds ahead of Longa. Johann Pallhuber came third. The former national rider was already over two minutes behind the winner and crossed the finish line just ahead of last year's winner Oswald Weisenhorn from ARSV Vinschgau (+2:35,3 minutes) and the Austrian Manuel Zorn (+2:56,8). Meanwhile, among the women, the experienced Marina Illmer was in a class of her own. She stayed under an hour of racing time and won in 59:20,2 minutes, over 7 minutes ahead of Elisabeth Steger and even 14 minutes ahead of Helga Platzgummer. The national championship titles went to Mattia Longa, Marina Ilmer, Michael Wohlgemuth, Andrea Dori, Elisabeth Steger, Simon Morandell and the Masters Stefano Facchini, Alexander Erhard, Freddi Wallnöfer, Oswald Weisenhorn, Andreas Kofler, Luis Meraner and Alois Koch. The next stage of the Raiffeisen South Tyrol Cup will take place on June 19th in Panchià in Trentino.
