Greta Weithaler also wins the 4th stage of the Internazionali d'Italia

The mountain biker from the Ötzi Bike Team celebrated an undisputed start-finish victory in Gorizia. Weithaler won in 1:16.25.7 hours, almost four minutes ahead of Elena Torcianti and over five minutes ahead of Chiara Teocchi. Thanks to these successes, national coach Hubert Pallhuber called her up for the Junior World Cup next weekend in Albstadt. In Germany she will start for the Italian national team for the first time in her career.

The other South Tyroleans in Gorizia also showed strong performances. In the men's junior race, which was won by Gioele Bertolini from Valtellina, Michael Spögler from Sarn took 4th place behind Alessandro Serravalle and the Slovenian Gregor Krajnc.

In the men's open category, the two local heroes Luca and Daniele Braidot were able to hold their own, while Marco Aurelio Fontana came third. The best South Tyrolean was Fabian Rabensteiner in 9th place, who lost 6.33 minutes to the winner.

The top favorite Eva Lechner was missing from the women's competition, as she did not take part due to a mild case of flu. The victory went to the Slovenian Tanja Zakelj, ahead of the Swiss Nathalie Schneitter and the Mexican Daniela Campuzano. Anna Oberparleiter from Olang came fifth, Julia Innerhofer eighth and Lisa Rabensteiner ninth.

Eva Lechner, Julia Innerhofer, Lisa Rabensteiner, Judith Pollinger, Matteo Olivotto, Martin Pollinger, Michael Oberrauch and Gerhard Kerschbaumer will also be traveling with Greta Weithaler to the start of the World Cup in Albstadt next weekend.

Greta Weithaler also wins the 4th stage of the Internazionali d'Italia

On Sunday, Greta Weithaler won the 2014th stage of the Internazionali d'Italia in Gorizia, on the route of the 4 Italian Championships. The young woman from Val Venosta had already won the first three junior races in Nals, Montichiari and Chies d'Alpago.
