Huber and Stiebjahn win the start of the Bike Transalp

The first stage was 105 kilometers and 3206 meters in altitude tough lump. From the foot of the Hintertux Glacier we took the new bike trail from the Tuxer Joch through the Schmirntal, the Valsertal to the Brenner and on to Brixen.

Urs Huber and Simon Stiebjahn from Team Bulls secured the first stage victory and thus the yellow jersey after a sprint to the finish, ahead of the reigning Transalp winner Jochen Käß and his team partner Daniel Geismayr (Centurion Vaude). “The first day was extremely hard,” said Urs Huber (SUI) at the finish after a total time of 1:4 hours. Third place also went to Team Bulls: Martin Frey (GER) and Hansueli Stauffer (SUI) crossed the finish line in Brixen, 06.40,4 minutes behind.

As the best mixed team, the German-Austrian duo Stefanie Dohrn and Handl Philip (Centurion Vaude) mastered the first stage with a time of 4:49.44,0 hours. The best women, Elena Wagner and Nina Hartleb from the Scott, were overjoyed Sebamed Mädelz, crossed the finish line after 6:37.51,6 hours. The starting signal for the 22nd BIKE Transalp has been fired in the Zillertal. The first day of the legendary stage race took around 1 mountain bikers from more than 700 nations from Tux in the Zillertal to Brixen.
