Italy most successful nation at the Marlene South Tyrol Sunshine Race Nals

With eleven wins, the Azzurri are at the top of the rankings, followed by Norway, Germany and Switzerland with three, and Belgium and Spain with two. Six of the eleven Italian successes were won by the women and five by the men. In the nations ranking we find athletes from ten countries.

The men's record holders are four athletes with two wins each. These are XCO vice world champion Manuel Fumic from Germany, marathon world champion Roel Paulissen (Belgium), U23 World Championship medalist Ivan Alvarez Gutierrez (Spain) and the former Italian champion and World Cup winner Marco Bui (Italy). Marco Aurelio Fontana, Tony Longo, Nino Schurter, Fredrik Kessiakof, Julien Absalon and Martino Fruet also won once.

In the women's category, South Tyrolean Eva Lechner leads the rankings with four wins. The woman from Eppan won the classic Nals spring race in 2013, 2012, 2010 and 2009. Olympic champion, world champion and World Cup winner Gunn-Rita Dahle follows with three victories. The Norwegian won the Marlene South Tyrol Sunshine Race in 2007, 2006 and 2003: with one victory each, the Swiss European champion from 2010, Katrin Leumann, the Slovenian U23 and junior world champion Tanja Zakelj, the multiple German champion Regina Marunde (D), The Russian champion and world champion Irina Kalentieva (RUS), U23 European champion Nathalie Schneitter (CH), Italian champion Annabella Stropparo (I) and Olympic champion Paola Pezzo (I) appeared on the roll of honor.

The “XC Eliminator Raiffeisen Sprint” and the “Marlene Südtirol Sunshine Race” will take place in Nals on Saturday and Sunday. The Eliminator final on Saturday will take place at 18 p.m., the women's start on Sunday at 12.45 p.m. and the men's start at 14.45 p.m.
