Käß and Kaufmann with second Bike Transalp stage victory

The German triple winners from 2013 to 2015 completed the 98,44 km and 3.001 meters of altitude from St. Christina to Kaltern in 3:49.09,4 hours, beating their Centurion Vaude teammates Daniel Geismayr and Hermann Pernsteiner by just 0,4 Seconds ahead of second place (3:49.09,8).

However, the two Austrian tour leaders were able to confirm their overall lead of 1:49 minutes over Käss/Kaufmann.

Third place went to Luis Mejia (COL) and Joseph Chavarria (CRC) from 7C (3:49.47,1), who were once again aggressive today. By the second aid station (km 64,61), the Latin Americans had pulled away from the competition and had now gained a one-minute lead over the two Centurion Vaude duos after they got lost several times on the descent from the first mountain.

But the two top teams of this year's Transalp made use of their experience and climbing class as the climb to Deutschnofen continued and caught up with the two outliers - only to pull away in the end thanks to perfect teamwork on their part and only have the buffer on their rivals three out of seven stages of the 20th edition of the race.

The third-placed team in the overall ranking, Jeremiah Bishop (USA) and Kristian Hynek (CZE) from Topeak Ergon Racing 1, lost more than two minutes to the yellow jerseys as the fourth-best duo of the day (3:51.12,1).

Category leader strong For the women, Esther Süss (SUI) and Jennie Stenerhag (SWE) underlined their exceptional position for the fourth time in a row. The duo working for Meerendal CBC crossed the finish line in Kaltern after 4:51.20,1 hours.

In the Masters classification, the dominant mountain bikers, former world champion Massimo Debertolis (ITA) and the amputee Costa Rican Dax Jaikel from Wilier Force 7C, were able to bag their fourth success of the day in an impressive 4:06.35,6 hours.

In the Grand Masters category, Thorsten Damm (GER) and Peter Vesel (SLO) from Scott Fahrradladen Gudensberg, who were wearing the green leader jerseys for the first time, also set the best time (4:18.10,6), while the Germans Silke Ulrich and Sascha Schwindling from Team Herzlichst Zypern 1 once again showed no weakness in the mixed classification (4:23.08,2).

Käß and Kaufmann with second Bike Transalp stage victory

After yesterday's decision at the green table and the subsequently recognized victory on the third stage, Jochen Käß and Markus Kaufmann also triumphed on the fourth day of the BIKE Transalp.
