Lecomte secures overall World Cup – South Tyrolean in midfield

The decision in the overall women's World Cup was made on the penultimate World Cup weekend. Loana Lecomte was crowned all-around queen with a fourth-place finish in cross country. In the World Cup final in the American Snowshoe, the focus is on the ranks behind Lecomte, which are still hotly contested.

Cross Country World Champion Evie Richards was able to secure the World Cup race in Lenzerheide. The Brit beat Rebecca McConnell with a lead of 19 seconds. The Swede Jenny Rissveds took third place (+ 58 seconds). Richards was able to exploit her potential once again and catch up with the overall World Cup by winning the cross country and second place in the short track. The fight for second place in the overall ranking remains exciting.

As already in Saturday's short track race , the South Tyrolean mountain bike aces had a hard time. Eva Lechner from Eppan improved compared to the previous day and took 20th place. Greta Seiwald, who had stood out with her performance in recent weeks, had to settle for 38th place. Koretzky ice cold – Kerschbaumer only 35. In the men's race, Victor Kortetzky was able to prevail over his opponents in an exciting final spurt and achieve his second World Cup victory. The quartet around Mathias Flueckiger, Nino Schurter, Victor Koretzky and Alan Hatherly moved into the final round within a second. For the Swiss Schurter, in addition to a possible victory, it was also about setting an all-time record. If successful, it would be his 33rd World Cup victory on a mountain bike. This would mean the nine-time world champion would draw level with Frenchman Julien Absalon.

But the Frenchman Victor Koretzky had something against a Swiss home win and a record. In the final sprint, Koretzky overtook Flueckiger and brought victory across the finish line. Schurter (+2 seconds) and Flueckiger (+9 seconds) finally crossed the finish line behind the French. Flueckiger therefore missed out on an early overall World Cup victory.

Gerhard Kerschbaumer had nothing to do with the decision about the top positions. The Verdinger couldn't get past a disappointing 35th place and crossed the finish line 5 minutes behind.
