MTB: Lechner & Co. also want to strike in Trentino

In Val di Sole, Sulzberg in German, the fight for World Cup points will take place from Thursday, June 14th to Sunday, June 16th. Among the world's best, South Tyrol's model athletes will also be cycling for victory. In the previous two World Cup races, at the start in Albstadt in Germany and a week later in Nove Mesto na Morave in the Czech Republic, the local bikers in particular performed extremely well.

Eva Lechner from Eppan won the women's elite class in Germany in mid-May and came fifth in Nove Mesto despite a flat tire. There was only one biker on the highest podium among the juniors this year and her name is Greta Weithaler and she comes from Naturns. With these two model athletes, South Tyrol has two very hot irons in the fire when it comes to winning in the neighboring province.

In addition to Lechner and Weithaler, Judith Pollinger and Anna Oberparleiter (both elite), as well as Lisa Rabensteiner and Julia Innerhofer (both U23) are also in action. Innerhofer, like Lechner and Weithaler, won the overall ranking of the “Internazionali d'Italia” last weekend. Denise Meraner and Franziska Tanner will also give their best among the juniors.

The men's hopes rest on Gerhard Kerschbaumer, who hasn't really gotten going yet in the World Cup this year. Franz Hofer from Sarner is also in the elite class, as are Matteo Olivotto and Beltain Schmid (both U23). National coach Hubert Pallhuber has also nominated the juniors Michael Spögler and Paul Oberrauch.

It starts on Thursday with the cross-country eliminator competition. The qualifying round begins at 16.45:18 p.m., the final will take place from XNUMX p.m. Local bikers Eva Lechner and Anna Oberparleiter are there.

The cross-country races are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The women in the U9 and junior age groups start at 23 a.m. (9.02:11.30 a.m.), while the elite start at 14:16.30 a.m. The men's elite start at 23 p.m., while the U9.30 bikers compete for victory from XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. On Sunday the juniors come to the field - from XNUMX a.m.
