New team, new luck: Eva Lechner starts for Torpado

Gerhard Kerschbaumer won World Championship silver with the Torpado mountain bike in September, and now Eva Lechner also wants to celebrate great success with the “Torpado-Südtirol-International” mountain bike team.

The commitment was only recently announced. The team, which comes from Veneto (the addition of South Tyrol in the name comes from the fact that the country of South Tyrol is a sponsor) focuses primarily on marathon races. However, Lechner, like Katazina Sosna from Lithuania, will compete in the national cross-country races and the Cross-Country World Cup. Lechner and Sosna are also scheduled to take part in the most important international marathons.

Until recently, Lechner competed for the Belgian Creafin Tüv Süd team. However, the Belgians concentrate entirely on cross-country cycling. With the previous mountain bike season, Lechner ended her involvement with the US Luna Team and competed in the cross-country World Cup season with the Creafin team. She will also compete for the Belgian team in the coming cross-country season.

The mountain bike season begins for Lechner next weekend with an international race in Verona. A week later, the start of the “Internazionali d'Italia” racing series will take place in Andora (Liguria). Lechner then wants to take a break for around a month before the mountain bike season finally gets going.

More South Tyroleans for Torpado Klaus Fontana from Olanger is also a member of the “Torpado South Tyrol International”. He concentrates entirely on the marathon races.

Gerhard Kerschbaumer starts for “Torpado Ursus”. In contrast to “Torpado-Südtirol-International”, his team concentrates entirely on cross-country races.

Eva Lechner has found a new mountain bike team: The 33-year-old from Eppan will be competing for the “Torpado-Südtirol-International” team in the future. Torpado is definitely a name that stands for success.
