Second place! Eva Lechner in Hafjell again on the podium - Kerschbaumer 13.

From the start, the 28-year-old from Eppan fought a thrilling battle with the reigning world champion Julie Bresset and the Russian Irina Kalentieva. For a long time, the South Tyrolean was even ahead. In the fifth round, Bresset finally wanted to break away from her two rivals, but she only partially succeeded. Due to a flat tire she had to pull away and Lechner took the lead, which Kalentieva denied her on the last lap.

The Russian then started again like a fire brigade and was finally crowned winner in 1:24,34 hours. Eva Lechner fell back a little and had a neck-and-neck race with Bresset on the last climb, which she was able to win in the end. The woman from Eppan ultimately crossed the finish line 20 seconds behind the world champion from France (+22 seconds) and celebrated her third podium finish in the World Cup season that has just ended after victory in Albstadt and third place in Andorra.

The woman from Eppan undoubtedly achieved her desired top ranking today. This meant she was able to gain a few places in the overall standings. She went from fourth place to second place. The overall victory went to Slovenia's Tanja Zakelj, who finished sixth today.

Kerschbaumer came 13th among men

In the men's category, however, the Czech Jaroslav Kulhavy prevailed. The London 2012 Olympic champion crossed the finish line after 1:36,19 hours and relegated the Swiss overall World Cup winner Nino Schurter (+7 seconds) and the German Manuel Fumic.

Marco Aurelio Fontana took fifth place as the best “Azzurro”, while Gerhard Kerschbaumer finished the race in 13th place. The newly crowned U23 world champion was 4,01 minutes behind at the finish. Meanwhile, Fabian Rabensteiner from Villandro had to settle for 39th place (+12.19 minutes).
