Seiwald stumbles in Nove Mesto

The first races of the new mountain bike season took place this weekend in Nove Mesto (Czech Republic). Greta Seiwald was unable to keep up with her colleagues' pace in the cross-country competition on Sunday.

Greta Seiwald was the only South Tyrolean who competed against the world leaders in mountain biking on Sunday. The Pusterian's strengths lie primarily in the short track, where she had a solid performance on Friday Finished 16th. However, in the cross country on Sunday, the South Tyrolean was behind this performance and that of her colleagues. She ultimately finished distantly in 54th place.

Seiwald struggled from the start. She quickly found herself in the back positions and had to let the leading group go. As the race continued, the 22-year-old's gap to the leaders increased and she fell further and further back in the rankings. In the end, the South Tyrolean crossed the finish line in 9.48th place, 54 minutes behind.

Pieterse with a show of strength

The Dutchwoman Puck Pieterse took the victory in an impressive manner (1.23,01:23 hours). The 2022 U5 European champion seemingly found a new gear in the last lap, closed the gap of a few seconds to the previously leading Frenchwoman Pauline Ferrand Prevot and left the multiple world champion behind (+11 seconds). Prevot's compatriot Loana Lecomte came third (+1.42 seconds). The best Azzurra was Martina Berta, who took tenth place, XNUMX minutes behind.
