Shimano Mountain Bike Experience 2017 at the end of May in South Tyrol

E-mountain bikes are heavy, cumbersome and unsuitable for touring. The SHIMANO E–MOUNTAIN BIKE Experience from May 25th to 28th, 2017 completely dispels these still existing prejudices. And all this in one of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe – in South Tyrol. This completely newly designed everyone's event for singles, couples and families takes place in four stages from the starting point in Naturns via Meran via Sarnthein, Brixen and Bruneck to the destination in Sexten across the most beautiful parts of the landscape and over the most attractive trails in South Tyrol. The special thing about this new form of crossing the Alps with an e-mountain bike is the combination of the four components: cycling, Alpine experience, enjoyment and culture. In addition to cycling and the obligatory lunch snack, you'll continue at the destination with the enjoyment of South Tyrolean specialties while chilling out in the SHIMANO Lounge, exploring the stage location and a joint evening event and dinner.

Another highlight: There are eight renowned cycling partners at the SHIMANO E – Mountain Bike Experience. The participants can borrow the latest e-MTB models from Cannondale, Scott, Centurion, Merida, Ghost, Bulls, Haibike or Focus for the stages every day and put them through their paces. Of course, there is personal and professional advice before the start, on the route and at the finish, and the right technical support on site.

The four-day tour over the attractive trails and peaks of the Vinschgau and the Dolomites is suitable for all abilities. From sporty beginners to experienced hobby athletes. The guided stages on the e-mountain bike take place in three groups depending on skill level. So everyone can take part and have fun. Each group is led by at least two experienced bike guides.

We also think about the cycling-loving family. The parents get on the eMTB every day and the children are well looked after with childcare and a child-friendly program. Family-friendly accommodation is also important when choosing a hotel.

The SHIMANO E – MOUNTAIN BIKE Experience takes you on four fantastically beautiful stages from west to east across South Tyrol, from Vinschgau to the Dolomites. During the day, around 50 km and 1.500 meters of ascent will be completed. The routes are scenic and varied, appropriate for the target group and rideable.

1st stage Naturns – via Meran – Sarnthein After starting in Naturns im Vinschgau, the route initially takes a relaxed route up the Partscheilberg along gravel paths and then back down into the valley via Pirchberg. The stage then leads down to Meran on the Vinschgau cycle path. The first uphill is the climb to the Meraner Hütte at a height of 1960 m. Here the electric push aid can then prove what it is capable of. The track continues over the Kreuz Joch to the legendary “Stoanernen Mandlen” (Stone Man). Everything at around 1900 to 2000 m altitude, high alpine and with a great view. The final step is the descent from the “Stoanernen Mandlen” down into idyllic Sarnthein, where the destination of the first day awaits after 46 km and 1230 m ascent.

2nd stage Sarnthein – Brixen Day 2 is a bit more demanding. 51 km and 2070 m ascent await the participants. But you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Dolomites all day long. After starting in Sarnthein, you continue along forest paths and single trails to the Seeberg lakes. From the Villanderer Alm the course leads over an impressive high alpine landscape towards the Kassianspitze (2581 m). First some gravel paths, then over single trails, the route leads to the Latzfonzer Kreuz, where lunch is served in the refuge at 2305 m. The descent down into the Isarco Valley consists of a mix of technical trails as well as gravel and asphalt paths. After 51 kilometers you reach Brixen with its wonderful cathedral square.

3rd stage Brixen - Bruneck This is the day of the mountain pastures and huts. After the first climb up to Brixen's local mountain Plose is overcome with the cable car, the trails lead towards Bruneck at an altitude of 2000 m and pass numerous alpine pastures and mountain huts. From the Rossalm you go to the Gableralm and further across the Gampenwiesen to the wonderfully located Würzjoch. Before there the stage leads to the Cirhütte to the Mauerberghütte, where the lunch break is planned. We continue at an altitude of around 2000 m on wide trails to the Glittner Lakes and on forest paths via Onach down to the Rienz town of Bruneck.

4th stage Bruneck - Sexten The shuttle takes you from Bruneck to Val Badia and Pederü. The last stage begins there with an extremely steep ramp up to the Sennes high plateau, part of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags nature park. The break at the Ra Stua Hut should be welcome to all participants. In the second part, the stage leads down to Schluderbach and on the unpaved cycle path past Lake Landro and Lake Toblach to Dobbiaco. Then over the Innichberg to Innichen and into the Sesto Valley to the destination of Sexten below the legendary Three Peaks.
