Vogel and Dahle triumph at the Marlene Sunshine Race 2015

In the men's category, Florian Vogel, who won his fourth race this season, completed the course in 1:39.44 hours. He left second-placed Manuel Fumic behind by 1.49 minutes. Ondrej Cink was third, 1.58 minutes behind. Right from the start, Vogel set a very high pace that his opponents were unable to maintain. He finished the first of seven laps after 13.27 minutes with a lead of 19 seconds over his pursuers, the Italian Andrea Tiberi and his compatriot Fabian Giger (+ 25 seconds).

In the second lap, the Swiss was able to extend his lead to 43 seconds over the two Cannondale riders Manuel Fumic and Marco Aurelio Fontana. A lead that he held until the end of the third lap. Then Fumic had a tire defect at the end of the climb and had to let both Cink and Fontana pass him. Vogel now increased his lead to one and a half minutes and increased it to almost two minutes by the finish. Meanwhile, Fumic was able to catch up with Ondrej Cink, the U23 world champion, in the last two laps and overtake him just before the finish.

Dahle-Flesjå Eva Lechner doesn't give a chance

In the women's race, Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesjå also dictated the pace from the start. She took the lead after the star lap because she wanted to be the first to turn into the narrow Nachtigallen climb so that she had no competitors in front of her and could determine her own rhythm over the five laps. She crossed the finish line after 1:26.11 hours with a lead of 55 seconds over local hero and record winner Eva Lechner, whom she equaled with four wins today. In the fight for third place, the Swiss Linda Indergand defeated the Austrian champion Lisi Osl in the sprint and crossed the finish line 2.36 minutes behind the Norwegian Olympic champion and world champion, who consistently increased her lead lap after lap.

After 15 editions and a total of 30 races, Italy leads the nations rankings with eleven wins ahead of Norway and Switzerland, which each have four first places on the honor roll. Athletes from ten countries have won in Nalles so far. 773 mountain bikers from 22 nations took part in the 15th edition of the “Marlene South Tyrol Sunshine Race”.

Vogel and Dahle triumph at the Marlene Sunshine Race 2015

The Swiss Florian Vogel and the Norwegian Gunn-Rita Dahle-Flesjå won the 15th edition of the international cross-country race "Marlene Südtirol Sunshine Race" in Nals.
