Two Olympic champions want to know it at the Dolomiti Superbike

One of them is the Czech Jaroslav Kulhavy. The 37-year-old was crowned Olympic cross country champion at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Four years later he also took home the Olympic silver medal from Rio de Janeiro. To make his resume even more impressive, between his two Olympic medals in 2014, he was also crowned marathon world champion. The second world-class athlete, who will attempt the 9 kilometer distance with 121 meters of altitude on the Dolomiti Superbike on July 3400th, also has a resounding name. It is the 46-year-old Frenchman Miguel Martinez, who won gold at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Those were the games in which a certain Paola Pezzo triumphed among the women. The year at the turn of the millennium was more than just successful for Martinez, because in addition to Olympic gold, he also won the world championship title and the overall World Cup. “With Jaroslav Kulhavy and Miguel Martinez we have two real top-class players at the start. We are extremely pleased and honored that these two highly decorated bikers, both of whom were Olympic champions, are coming to us in the 3 Zinnen Dolomites region. We're excited to see how they do in our classic. “We will certainly be able to announce the names of other top starters in the next few weeks,” promises OK boss Kurt Ploner. So far, 2200 mountain bikers from all corners of the world have already registered for this year's Dolomiti Superbike. The maximum number of participants was limited to 4000. The new route promises even more possibilities This year, special attention will also be paid to the new route. In addition to the classic, the already mentioned long distance of 121 kilometers with 3400 meters of altitude, and the short route (60 km/1570 hm), the OK team has also decided to include a medium route for this year's 27th edition of the Dolomiti Superbike to add. Over 85 kilometers, the participants of this distance tackle almost 2400 meters of altitude. What's also special: Those participants who are registered for the 121-kilometer marathon but don't make it to the time slot in Schluderbach in time can switch to the middle distance and are therefore not taken out of the ranking. What makes the Dolomiti Superbike so special? Since its premiere in 1995, thousands of enthusiastic bikers have followed the call of the Dolomiti Superbike every year. The start and finish point has always been in Niederdorf. In 2006 and 2007, the popular mountain bike marathon was counted as a World Cup stage, and in 2008 the world champions were even crowned in Pustertal. Except for the Covid-related cancellation in 2020, the mountain bike race in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites was always able to take place. In addition to the field of participants consisting of top-class mountain bikers, the Dolomiti Superbike also attracts with excellent organization and a breathtaking panorama in the 3 Zinnen Dolomites region.
