Bike Transalp: Second South Tyrolean podium place on the queen stage

The victory went to former world champion Massimo Debertolis and Dax Jaikel from Costa Rica for the third time in a row. The approximately 1000 participants from 30 nations had to cover 92,10 km and 3.414 meters in altitude from St. Vigil in Enneberg to Welschnofen in Eggental.

Thomas Piazza from Val Gardena and Viktor Paris from Nals (Saltos Mountain Xtream) repeated the result of the opening stage from Tux to Brixen with their third place. The duo completed the queen stage on Tuesday in 4:52.11 hours, 3.41:3.34 minutes behind the series winners Massimo Debertolis and Dax Jaikel (CRC) and XNUMX:XNUMX minutes behind the second-placed Germans Jürgen Scholtes and Sascha Schwindlig. In the overall ranking, Piazza and Paris are in third place, just under a minute ahead of fourth-placed Scholtes/Schwindlig. Debertolis/Jaikel confidently lead in this category ahead of Trentino's Ivan Degasperi and Pierluigi Betelli.

In the men's race, the top three finished almost at the same time. Marco Rebagliati and Ole Hem (Wilier 7C Force) crossed the finish line first after 4:14.22,5 hours and thus improved from fourth to third place in the overall ranking. Their lead over second-placed Urs Huber (SUI) and Stefan Stiebjahn (GER) from Team Bulls was only three tenths of a second, while third-placed Daniel Geysmayr (AUT) and Jochen Käß (GER, Team Centurion Vaude) were four tenths of a second behind. Trentino's Tony Longo and Costa Rica's Gregory Brenes Obando finished in seventh place.

Tour leaves South Tyrol In the overall standings, last year's winner Jochen Käß and his new partner Daniel Geismayr lead by 13 seconds over the duo Urs Huber/Stefan Stiebjahn. The Italian-Norwegian team with Rebagliati and Hem is in third place, fourteen and a half minutes behind the leaders.

On Wednesday the Bike Transalp leaves South Tyrol for Trentino. The program includes the fourth stage from Nova Levante to San Martino di Castrozza (69,21 km | 2.647 m).
