Dolomites bike tour: Corredor and Dietl are ahead

This time the 700 cyclists from 33 different nations went on a route of 78 kilometers with an altitude difference of 1859 meters from Bolzano through the Eggental via Obereggen to the Reiterjoch/Passo di Pampeago and over the Lavazè-Joch again through the Eggental back to Bozen. On the timed section from Rauth up to Reiterjoch (8 km/724 hm), the Colombian Jaime Corredor and the German Monika Dietl set the best time.

As on Sunday, Daan Vermeulen was the first to cross the finish line. But this time it wasn't the Belgian who won the day: the Colombian Jaime Corredor started a little after Vermeulen in Rauth and won the mountain time trial thanks to his better time in 28.39 minutes. Vermeulen had to admit defeat by three seconds and came second. However, the 23-year-old remains ahead in the overall standings. The Norwegian Vebjørn Rønning took third place (+14 seconds). The best “Azzurro” was Manuel Giacomelli. The Trentino native narrowly missed the podium in fourth place (+33). As the best South Tyrolean, Edi Rizzi (athlete team) took sixth place. He was 44 seconds behind Corredor.

There was no way around Monika Dietl for the women. The 39-year-old from Freising completed the timed section in 36.44 minutes and further extended her lead in the overall standings. The rest of the podium also corresponded to that of Sunday: the Swiss Mirjam Bebi and Esther Frei took second and third place.

It is the most demanding stage due to its length and the difference in altitude (155 km/3275 m). The timed section from Corvara to the Gardena Pass is 9 kilometers long and has an altitude of 600 meters. This section will be closed to traffic from 12.30:15.30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It starts at XNUMX:XNUMX a.m. at the Bolzano Trade Fair.
