A surprise man shines in Antholz

Early on Wednesday afternoon, the cycling professionals reached the Mendel Pass after a slight climb, then rolled via Kaltern and Eppan to Bolzano. We continued via the Eisack and Pustertal valleys to Bruneck before turning towards Antholz. The finish line finally took place at 17 p.m. in the Südtirol Arena in Obertal.

Already on the climb to the Mendel Pass, which took place over the Nonsberg, 18 professionals broke away. This group was halved again on the next climb to Terento. From this leading group, the young Nans Peters attempted to break away 12 kilometers from the finish, which was crowned with success. The 25-year-old continued to distance himself from his pursuers at the finish and finally confidently secured victory. When he turned into the South Tyrol Arena in Antholz after 4.41,34:XNUMX hours, his first professional victory and the greatest success of his career to date was perfect.

Carapaz keeps pink jersey Meanwhile, Richard Carapaz celebrated his 26th birthday with another day in the pink jersey. The Ecuadorian from Team Movistar defended his overall lead on Wednesday and even slightly increased his lead.

The 18th stage starts on Thursday in Olang, via Toblach and Schluderbach it goes 220 kilometers to Santa Maria di Sala.
