Roglic takes Paris-Nice lead

Roglic, like his overall competitors, crossed the finish line on Thursday on the 190 km long route from Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert to Saint-Sauveur-de-Montagut in the first large chasing group. The day's victory went to solo breakaway Brandon McNulty (USA/Team UAE).

The Slovenian leads the three remaining stages by 39 seconds over the Briton Simon Yates (BikeExchange). The Frenchman Pierre Latour (total) is third, 41 seconds behind. The previous leader Van Aert, winner of the time trial the day before Roglic, lost touch on the last long climb and fell far behind. More than 20 professionals did not take part in the fifth section with an altitude difference of almost 3500 meters, mostly due to cold symptoms. Ganna loses Tirreno-Adriatico lead to Pogacar Also at Tirreno-Adriatico, time trial winner Filippo Ganna was replaced as overall leader on difficult terrain by the Slovenian top favorite Tadej Pogacar. The Tour de France winner from the UAE racing team won the fourth section from Cascata delle Marmore to Bellante (202 km) in an uphill sprint two seconds ahead of a trio with the Dane Jonas Vingegaard. The jumbo professional was second overall behind Pogacar on the Tour of France last year.

The first pursuer of the Slovenian defending champion Pogacar in the Tirreno classification is the Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Quickstep), nine seconds behind. As in France, there are still 3 parts outstanding in Italy.

Roglic takes Paris-Nice lead
