Sabine Gandini rushes from victory to victory

She is one of the strongest cyclists in South Tyrol. However, Sabine Gandini was repeatedly set back by injuries in her career. But the woman from Brixen always stood up – motivation and iron will accompanied her on her career.

The woman from Brixen has only been riding more or less injury-free for around two years (before that she had hardly had a season in which she was spared from injuries) and is rushing from victory to victory. It was only at the end of July that she won the prestigious cycling race up Trento's local mountain, Monte Bondone. The race is considered the “Mountain World Championship for amateur cyclists”. A few days ago Gandini was able to record another significant success. In the mountain race from Berzo Demo up to Fabrezza in the Adamello Mountains (Brescia province) she was unbeatable over 14 kilometers and around 1000m.

Triumphs in France The woman from Brixen particularly enjoys France, where she combines vacation with mountain racing. And the French mountain air suits her: in both 2016 and 2017, Gandini was unbeatable in an international mountain race on Alpe d'Huez. In 21, Gandini needed 12,5 minutes for the 1100 bends over 2017 kilometers and 50.41 meters in altitude. “During the climb you can feel the cycling flair that attracts thousands of cyclists from all over the world,” reported the woman from Brixen.

She celebrated one of her most beautiful successes in 2016 at the mythical Mont Ventoux in France. She won the mountain race in record time. Gandini needed just 21:1600 hours to cover the 7,6 kilometers and 1 meters of altitude at an average gradient of 17 percent. No woman has achieved such a time in the last 13 years that the race has existed. She beat the record by 4 minutes. The mountain has something mythical about it for cyclists, especially because the Tour de France regularly climbs here. The mountain gets its name because of the strong wind.
