Tour de Suisse: Sanchez wins solo - Asgreen leads

The 35-year-old from Team Astana prevailed as a soloist after 158 kilometers in Langnau im Emmental after attacking ten kilometers from the finish.

Second place went to three-time world champion Peter Sagan (Slovakia/Bora-hansgrohe), who won the sprint of the main field six seconds behind. The Dane Kasper Asgreen (Deceuninck-Quick Step) took the lead in the overall ranking ahead of Sagan at the same time. Third, one second behind, is Australian Rohan Dennis (Bahrain-Merida), who won the opening time trial on Saturday.

Tour de France winner Geraint Thomas (Great Britain/Ineos) and his Colombian teammate Egan Bernal crossed the finish line with the peloton. After Ineos captain Chris Froome's serious fall, Thomas and Bernal are the team's hopes for the Tour of France.

The third stage of the Tour de Suisse, which ends in Goms after nine sections, leads on Monday over 161 km from Flamatt to Murten, only over smaller climbs. In addition to the Dauphine, which ended on Sunday, the Tour de Suisse is the traditional dress rehearsal for the Tour de France (July 6th to 27th).
