Transalp is coming to Kaltern

Hundreds of teams of two are also crossing the Alps on racing bikes during this year's Tour Transalp. In the course of the seven stages it goes from Brixen via St. Vigil, Sillian, Fiera di Primiero, Crespano del Grappa, Trento and Kaltern am See over 872 kilometers to Riva del Garda.

On the way from South Tyrol to Lake Garda there are also 18 passes and a total of 17.797 meters of altitude to master. The 6th stage from Trento to Kaltern is already on the program for tomorrow, Friday.

The Belgian defending champions and favorites Frederic Glorieux and Bob Michels will start the race as overall leaders. The two Belgians confidently defended their overall lead on Thursday. Victory on the fifth day of the TOUR Transalp 2018 went to Florian Vrecko (GER) and Nils Kessler (GER). They took their second day win in a row on the queen stage of the week-long tour (4:30.18,1). Second place went to their team members Christoph Mai (GER) and Tom Walther (GER) in 2:4.

Third place on the 149,75 km long, extremely difficult stage with four passes to be overcome and a total of 3.120 meters in altitude, the timing of which took place just a few kilometers from the gates of the northern Italian city, went to the Belgian overall leaders Frederic Glorieux and Bob Michels (4th place). :30.21,1). Your lead over the stage winners is still around 5 minutes.

Michael Spögler from Sarnen and his teammate from Germany, Michael Markolf, finished the 5th stage in 4th place. Thomas Gschnitzer from Vipiteno and his North Tyrolean teammate Daniel Pechtl ended up in 6th place. Gschnitzer/Pechtl are in 3rd place in the overall ranking by around 6 minutes behind the overall leaders, Spögler/Markolf follow in 4th place, 9 minutes behind the Belgians.

Next stage to Kaltern The penultimate stage of the TOUR Transalp 2018 is no less demanding than today's queen stage. Because with 3.151 meters in altitude, spread over 116 km, another Herculean task must be overcome in order to get closer to the destination of Lake Garda. On their way from Trento to Kaltern am See, the field follows an unusual route, because unlike the normal Transalp direction from north to south, this time the route runs in the opposite direction and crosses the Manghen Pass and the San Lugano saddle.

Transalp is coming to Kaltern

On the 5th Transalp stage on Thursday, the Belgians Glorieux and Michels were able to confidently defend the yellow jersey. On Friday the teams of two will go to Kaltern.
