Vermeulen wins the “Giro” overall classification

In the mountain time trial on the Alpe di Siusi, however, Lorna Ciacci from Bolzano could not be beaten. She reached the finish on the high plateau after 36.38 minutes, 19 seconds ahead of Frei. Dietl took third place. Ciacci, who also won the time trial on the Stelvio Pass, won the “short” overall ranking ahead of Evelyn Fissneider (Neumarkt) and the German Irene Raab. Peter Fill: Bike instead of skis Peter Fill normally races down the steepest downhill slopes in the world at top speeds of around 160 kilometers per hour. In the summer, the Castelrotto resident swaps the 2,20 meter long bars for a racing bike and uses it to improve his fitness. Vermeulen wins the “Giro” overall classification

Daan Vermeulen is the winner of the 2018 Dolomites cycling tour. A second place in the mountain time trial on the Alpe di Siusi on Friday was enough for the Belgian to win the overall ranking. The day's victory went to Thomas Gschnitzer.
