World Cup: Lechner missed a medal with the relay

The Azzurri (Simone Avondetto, Andreas Vittone, Martina Berta, Eva Lechner and Luca Braidot) finished in fourth place on Wednesday evening (CET). Italy's team relay started the first race of the World Championships in Mont Sainte-Anne with great ambitions. Lechner, together with Simone Avondetto, Andrea Colombo, Martina Berta and Luca Braidot, was able to win the silver medal at the European Championships in Brno (Czech Republic) at the end of July.

But shortly before the start there was a setback: Gioele De Cosmo had to forego participation due to illness. Simone Avondetto replaced him. In the end, Italy was 30 seconds short of the bronze medal. Unsurprisingly, victory in the relay race went to Switzerland. The USA took second place, while France came third.

But the World Cup in Mont Sainte-Anne, Canada, is not over yet for Lechner. She will compete in the women's cross-country race on Saturday.
