Tour of the Alps: Double pack for Team Sky

With strong winds and frosty temperatures, 135,6 km were on the agenda today. The starting signal was given in Niederdorf. The two highlights were the climb to the Würzjoch and the steep road to the Rodeneckeralm. The destination was in Villnöss.

Only on the final climb was Geraint Thomas able to catch up with his teammate Landa and the Italian Pozzovivo with a solo effort. The Sky driver then cheekily passed and took the day's victory. Thomas, who is also one of the favorites for the upcoming Giro d'Italia, is currently leading the overall classification. Domenico Pozzovivo, the best Italian, is now 16 seconds behind in the overall ranking.

Tomorrow the starting signal will be fired in Bolzano

After today's tough day, the “Tour of the Alps” continues tomorrow with the fourth stage from Bolzano's Walther-Platz. The first few kilometers are initially flat. In Laimburg, the cycling professionals cross the short “Kojoten Pass” and then climb the Mendel Pass from Kaltern. The athletes are expected there at around 12.20 p.m. The rest of the stage takes place in Trentino, where, after numerous climbs and descents, the finish is in Cles.

Tour of the Alps: Double pack for Team Sky

At today's queen stage of the Tour of the Alps there was a double victory for Team Sky. The Welshman Geraint Thomas won ahead of his teammate Mikel Landa. Thomas also won the leader jersey. The Italian Pozzovivo in third place.
