Transalp: Third stage win for Spögler/Markolf

Michael Spögler and Michael Markolf mastered the 116,96 km and 3.151 meters of altitude from Trento to Kaltern in 3:47.39,6 hours and secured their third stage win of the race week. 1,1 seconds behind, overall leaders Frederic Glorieux/Bob Michels were the second duo to cross the finish line (3:47.40,7).

Despite a fall, the two defending champions from Belgium were able to once again extend their lead in the overall classification to Florian Vrecko and Nils Kessler (both Germany), who reached the finish in third place today (3:50.47,2).

The German duo, for their part, has to look back at a gap of 8.13 minutes, after Spögler and Markolf are only 14,5 seconds behind the current second in the overall ranking.

A minimal lead that can quickly disappear on Saturday on the last stage to Riva del Garda, especially since the top teams on this year's tour are not spared from technical problems or mishaps - as Frederic Glorieux found out the hard way today.

Glorieux touches teammate Michels When his teammate Michels stood up to stretch shortly before the second summit of the day, the Passo di San Lugano, Glorieux touched his rear wheel due to the unexpected slowdown and flew over the handlebars.
