100.000 km cracked: Sporthilfe Run a huge success

Funded by the South Tyrolean Sports Aid and by SportNews The initiative supported was intended to set an example for a new beginning after the months-long break caused by the health emergency, but also to be a thank you to everyone who fought on the front line in the corona crisis, from health workers to law enforcement, without the commitment of the forgetting families. Thanks to the support of numerous athletes such as Dorothea Wierer, the Sporthilfe Heroes Run collected money to support young South Tyrolean sports talent under the motto “New start full of confidence”.

In total, the athletes collected 105.352 kilometers: 23.790 kilometers on foot (walking or running) and 81.562 kilometers in the saddle (cycling or mountain biking). Over 180 families took part in the Sporthilfe Heroes Run, and 59 sports teams and company teams also registered.

Denise Karbon's family also pedaled hard for a good cause.

Many athletes took part in promoting this project, including Dorothea Wierer (biathlon), Laura Letrari (swimming), Elena Pirrone (cycling), Manfred Mölgg and Christoph Innerhofer (alpine skiing) and many other important personalities of the South Tyrolean sports scene. Thanks to the Sporthilfe Heroes Run, money was raised for young South Tyrolean athletes. Rabensteiner covered 809 kilometers The participant who has accumulated the most cycling kilometers is professional cyclist Fabian Rabensteiner, who covered the longest distance in the saddle with a good 809 km in one week, while Hermann Achmüller shone among the runners with a total of 355 kilometers. Both will be rewarded for their performance with a weekend in a Belvita Hotel in South Tyrol. However, Fabian Rabensteiner will make the South Tyrolean Sporthilfe voucher available for auction; the proceeds will benefit the young South Tyrolean athletes.

In the team ranking, the Torpado Südtirol cycling team was ahead with a good 1.188 km and was able to enjoy beer cartons with Forst 0,0%. In the family classification, first prize with 1.203 kilometers covered went to the family of Elena Pirrone, who won a set of glasses from Rudy Project.
