635.000 euros in sports aid funding for Paralympics starters

Pyeongchang (SID) A total of around 635.000 euros in funding has so far been paid out by Deutsche Sporthilfe to the 20 athletes and the four accompanying runners of the German Disabled Sports Association (DBS) team for the 12th Winter Paralympics. In preparation for Pyeongchang, the sponsored athletes received an average of around 535 euros per month over the past twelve months. The previous funding period through Sporthilfe ranges from the athletes from the curling team who were accepted at the beginning of the year (two months) to athletes who were already accepted into Sporthilfe funding in 2010 as part of the Paralympics in Vancouver. This concerns, for example, the five-time Paralympics champion Anna Schaffelhuber. Anna Rothfuss has been supported for over 15 years. The seven members of the so-called top team received particularly intensive support, including the Paralympics winners Andrea Eskau and Anja Wicker, monoskier Georg Kreiter and Clara Klug with accompanying runner Martin Härtl (cross-country skiing and biathlon). In addition to the management support, they received an additional 500 euros per month. These were provided by the DBS partners, including Deutsche Telekom as the national sponsor of Sporthilfe.
