Bolzano fistball players come away empty-handed at the start of the season

At the weekend, SSV Bozen took part in the first round of the Fistball Bundesliga in Austria. The South Tyroleans had to admit defeat away from home against both runner-up Freistadt and Enns.

In addition to the difficult conditions, the people of Bolzano had a lot of bad luck. On Saturday, in the rain against favorites and league leaders Freistadt, the White-Reds were almost only able to field substitutes and not win a set - for professional reasons they had to do without important routine players in every position, so that even coach Ramel had to step in. On Sunday, important players like Obwexer, Runer A. and Menz were able to move up against Enns (near Linz), but they were unable to win important points and only won one set (11:4, 6:11, 11:7, 12:10, 11:9).

Hintermann Obwexer about the current situation of the SSV: “Professional challenges are plaguing our club considerably. Half of the team is not able to take part in training regularly and the many kilometers covered are taking a toll on us.”

The next few weekends are crucial for qualifying for the championship play-off: “We have to win against Kremsmünster, Froschberg and Grieskirchen,” said Coach Ramel. The next matchday is September 8th away against Kremsmünster, followed by the double home round on September 14th/15.09th, when the 64th international autumn mini golf tournament will also take place on the Talferwiesen.
