Pyeongchang (SID) Laura Dahlmeier is reaching for her third gold in the third race in the 15 km individual biathletes. After victories in the sprint and pursuit, the seven-time world champion is also the favorite in the classic. In addition to Dahlmeier, Franziska Hildebrand is again at the start, and Franziska Preuß and Maren Hammerschmidt are also taking part in the race in Pyeongchang for the first time. Alyona Savchenko and Bruno Massot are Germany's hope for a medal in pair skating. At the not entirely error-free start to the short program of the team competition, the vice world champions from Oberstdorf are mainly suffering from minor health problems; Savchenko is suffering from a mixture of jet lag and a cold. In addition to Savchenko/Massot, the favorites are the team Olympic champions Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford from Canada. Berliners Annika Hocke and Ruben Blommaert will also be at the start. After a difficult winter so far, the Nordic combined athletes appear to have found their form in time for the Olympic Games. Record world champion Johannes Rydzek, Sochi Olympic champion and standard bearer Eric Frenzel and Fabian Rießle have clearly improved, especially on the hill, and each won a training round. They are therefore among the medal favorites for the first competition on the normal hill. After gold, silver and bronze, the next success awaits the German tobogganers in the doubles. World champions Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken won ten of 13 World Cup races this season and of course the overall World Cup. In Pyeongchang, the Thuringian duo set the best training times twice on Monday and Tuesday, while Olympic champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt fell in the last run.
