The Russian athletes exonerated or partially exonerated by CAS

Pyeongchang (SID) The International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Thursday lifted the lifelong Olympic bans imposed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 28 Russian athletes because it could not find any individual violations of anti-doping rules. The successes achieved by these athletes at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi are now valid again. For the athletes who have been relieved of their burden, however, this does not mean that they can now take part in the Winter Games in Pyeongchang (February 9th to 25th). Since they have not received an invitation from the IOC, they would first have to sue for their right to start. In eleven other cases, violations were identified and the objections were only partially confirmed. These athletes remain removed from the results lists in Sochi, but the CAS lifted the lifetime bans. They remain closed for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
