The biggest problem at the moment seems to be the weather. “In Pyeongchang it is sometimes very cold with outside temperatures below minus 20 degrees and strong winds,” said Chef de Mission Dirk Schimmelpfennig, who has been on site since last Friday, in response to a SID request. Otherwise, the DOSB board responsible for competitive sports is confident that problems for the athletes will be limited. "The first impressions of the Olympic Village in Pyeongchang are good. We found the apartments in a generally good condition. The promises made to us during our last visit in October have been implemented," said Schimmelpfennig: "Now it's about the last, smaller improvements and, above all, of course, organizational tasks." The organizing committee POCOG provided “constructive” support. The main task at the moment is to set up the athletes' apartments. The preparatory work is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday. The two athlete villages in the so-called Mountain and Coastal Clusters will be officially opened on Thursday. Before the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, there were major problems in the Olympic Village, including the state of the sanitary facilities.
