Drei Zinnen Alpine Run awaits the 15000th finisher

Among the men, the Pole Andzej Dlugosz and the Trentino Cesare Maestri lead the list of favorites; both of them put their stamp on the mountain run from Fischleintal to Dreizinnenhütte two years ago with places 2 and 1. Last year's winner Petro Mamu from Eritrea holds the course record in 1:22,44 hours, the former world champion set the record time in 2013 on the 17,5 kilometer original route with an altitude of 1350 meters. The women's field of participants is led by last year's winner Sara Bottarelli from Brescia. Also at the start is the 2014 winner, Victoria Kreuzer from Switzerland.

From a South Tyrolean perspective, local hero Agnes Tschurtschenthaler could have a say for the place on the highest step of the podium. In 2015 she took second place behind Antonella Confortola and would probably have secured South Tyrol's third victory after Nathalie Santer (1998) and Renate Rungger (2013) if she hadn't fallen on the last descent and lost valuable time.

A total of 1000 mountain runners from 22 nations are at the start in Sexten this year, including former ski ace Marco Büchel. The Liechtensteiner won the silver medal at the 1999 World Ski Championships and now works as a ski expert for ZDF. The South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run has been sold out for a good three weeks - and therefore earlier than ever before. In the 19 editions so far, 14767 participants have reached the goal. This means that, among other things, the 15.000th athlete will reach the finish line in the anniversary edition.

The 20th South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run starts on Saturday, September 16th, at 10 a.m. at Haus Sexten. Drei Zinnen Alpine Run awaits the 15000th finisher

On Saturday the starting signal for the 20th South Tyrol Drei Zinnen Alpine Run will be given in Sexten. A top-class field of participants is once again at the start of the anniversary edition of the popular mountain run in the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site.
