Spring for extreme athletes is just around the corner

It starts on 7. March familiar with the Horn attack . It's easy to recognize from the name that the Rittner Horn is tackled - from downtown Bolzano. The bare numbers are 20 km of distance and 2000 meters of altitude to be overcome. This duathlon, a combination of mountain running and ski touring, is being held for the fifth time. Unlike previous editions, this year there is a new category in addition to the individual and relay races: the mountaineers. These hardened extreme athletes complete the route with their skis strapped to their backs - so they transport their equipment for the second part on the Ritten during the mountain run. It continues on March 27th and 28th in Vinschgau, more precisely at Naturnser Sonnenberg. That's where you'll find it Ötzi trail run instead of. The trail run elite will be present in the heart of Vinschgau for the first time in two competitions (15 km and 30 km). The OK team around Ulli Stampfer has already announced a number of calibers: Among others, Marco De Gasperi (6-time mountain running world champion), Elisa Desco (mountain running world champion 2014) and numerous top local runners such as Hannes Perkmann will be taking part. Last but not least is on 25. April of Ötzi Alpine Marathon at. It is certainly one of the toughest events that South Tyrol has to offer. Over 42 kilometers and an altitude of almost 3500 meters, it goes from the Naturno orchards up to the Senales Valley Glacier. It's also a kind of triathlon: you start on a mountain bike, then you continue on foot until you get on the touring skis and complete the last part. The route can be completed alone or in teams of three who divide the three disciplines among themselves. At the request of some participants, this year there is also a duathlon, which only consists of running and ski touring, which can be completed individually or in teams of two.

The South Tyrolean extreme athletes' hearts will warm when they can enter the planned events in March and April on the calendar. There are three events to be announced: the Horn Attack, the Ötzi Trail Run and the Ötzi Alpine Marathon.
