A more than successful comeback for the Sporthilfe Gala

For the first time after a three-year break, South Tyrol's top athletes were properly celebrated again. On Friday evening, Jannik Sinner and Dorothea Wierer were among the many outstanding athletes whose successes delight local sports fans year after year in front of more than 800 enthusiastic guests.

Sinner, who joined via video message and was represented by his father Hans-Peter, defended his title from last year and relegated volleyball ace Simone Giannelli and snowboard crosser Omar Visintin to their place. Wierer, who is already for the fifth time as Dolomites Sportswoman of the Year won against skier Nadia Delago and volleyball player Raphaela Folie.

At the end, all athletes posed for a group photo.

But that's not enough. Footballer Elisa Pfattner and track cycling specialist Mattia Predomo were presented with the Ossi Pircher Young Talent Prize in the H1 Event Space at the Bolzano Trade Fair. South Tyrol's athlete with heart, a special award from the HGV, is the swimmer Laura Letrari. And for their life's work in sport, Dominik Windisch (biathlon), Siegmar Klotz (alpine skiing/ski cross), Silvia Bertagna (freestyle), Manfed Mölgg (alpine skiing), Petra Zublasing (shooting), Anton Bernard (ice hockey), Hannes Fink ( Football), Tania Cagnotto (diving) and Hannes Innerebner (handball) awarded nine South Tyrolean sports legends. An extremely successful return Following the various awards, celebrations continued late into the night. DJ Maexx really heated up the party guests in the south of Bolzano. The Forest Season team provided food and drink. The athletes present were willing to take selfies and photos and told anyone interested about their exciting sports lives.

“It was an extremely successful return of the Sporthilfe Gala, where our outstanding athletes rightly took center stage the entire evening. “I have only received positive feedback about our unique event, which we have been able to host for many years in close collaboration with our partner Athesia,” said Sporthilfe President Giovanni Podini.

The Sporthilfe Gala is not just a moment of celebration for the South Tyrolean Sporthilfe, but also a fitting time to say a heartfelt thank you to all partners, sponsors and supporters. “Without the help of business, without their great passion for local sport, we would not be able to support our young talents in this way. That's why Südtiroler Sporthilfe is very proud that it has been able to count on great partners for decades. “So a big thank you to all partners from business and all other areas – and hopefully we can continue to work well together,” concluded Podini. The net proceeds from the Sporthilfe Gala 2022 will once again benefit the many local talents.
