The torch relay reaches Tokyo in a somber mood

Because infections are increasing again. The original plan was for more than 100 runners to carry the Olympic torch through Setagaya district and three districts in the western suburbs on Friday. Instead, the runners will take part in a ceremony without spectators in the town of Machida. Since it started at the end of March, the torch relay had already been banned from the streets in many areas of the country on its way through the 47 prefectures of the island kingdom.
