Fistball European Championships in Kaltern canceled

“We did not make the decision easy for ourselves, but the ongoing corona pandemic and the many uncertainties regarding corona and quarantine rules simply make organizing such a major event with participants from ten different nations not possible,” says Rudi Seifert, OK- Head of the fistball EURO in Kaltern. Almost three months before the planned EURO, the OK team, in consultation with the organizing partners TV Kaltern and SV Kaltern and the European Fistball Association EFA, decided to cancel the men's European Fistball Championship from June 25th to 27th, 2021. “The pandemic still has us firmly in its grip, many countries are in or are heading towards another lockdown and at the same time there is simply no planning security, on the one hand because every country is reacting to the current infection situation with its own rules, but also because of the vaccinations are not yet progressing as hoped,” explains Rudi Seifert. Corona is playing spoilsport again The organizers of the Fistball EURO have recently exchanged ideas with medical experts and political decision-makers on several occasions, prepared safety concepts and tested a variety of solutions and variants with and without spectators. However, there are still too many question marks in the room that do not currently allow such a sporting event to be planned. For the SSV Bozen Faustball and the OK team, the renewed cancellation of the European Championship planned for June is a heavy blow - after all, this date was actually the replacement date for the European Championship that was canceled last year. “We wanted to offer South Tyrol and all of Europe fistball at the highest level against the backdrop of a beautiful backdrop in Kaltern, but unfortunately the corona pandemic slowed us down again,” regrets the OC boss. A fistball EURO in Kaltern is not completely off the table yet: the OK team is currently working with the organizing partners to find an alternative date next year.
